griffm Hi griffm, I like your idea. but as taron said it was a bit difficult for freshers like us. so......... i was going with tarons challenge. May be next time when i improved my skill I will definitely do it.
taron hi taron, liked your challange, I am on it. This is the progress so far,I intentionally left the leaf as it was a bit complex for me. I have attached the file. pls see it and comment on it. It was my first sculpt. once if it was ok with the sculpt i will go on to texturing.
Q: I found it a bit difficult to make the model look smooth on the sides. so I reduced the polys. Is there any other technique.

huh...I can't load your model? It crashes sculptris instantly?! If your image is already on the web somewhere, you can copy the URL (shortcut) to it and place it between "[ img ] url [ /img ]" tags (not sure if that shows properly here, if I write it that way?!) - I SEE YOU GOT IT! If you attach an image, it works, too, and is the better choice, rather than posting your model. Although I am fascinated why your model doesn't open properly?!
Anyway, COOL, I'm looking forward to seeing whatcha got going!
I've just made a material for the apple with my ZbornToy, which works fantastic for throwing together quick material renders, hehe... Then I just threw some color on it for a test and it turns out real cute. I hope you don't mind and- even more- don't let this keep you from finishing it up properly, because you're already close to a perfect 3d apple!
I'll post the material in the resources subforum, I think...it's neat enough.
I'd say too spikey, hehe... but yeah, an apple sounds benign, but is another excellent exercise. By the way, nobody says you can't let the apple be merely an inspiration! Surrealism or comic, there's no end to where you could, if you wanted to take it. But a nice convincing real apple is challenge enough already, that's true, too!
Hrm... I demand I get counted on this challenge! Whoa, Taros... that's one badass apple material you've got on Sreenivas' apple. ^^ 'nyways, I got this done entirely in Sculptris.. No outside renders or models. also used default brushes but used some materials I got from the resources thread.
tsukijin, wow, that's an awesome apple! THe leaf is beautiful, too! But why is it coming out of the apple and not from the stick? Hehehe... check the reference again, which is a neat little helper on how reality has that organized, haha, but other than that... FANTASTIC effort already! Your painting job is also exceptional. Really pretty and subtle. Congratulations!
