Painted my Ogre head from my previous post in the Sculptris paint mode (no bump maps unfortunately, as can't have sculptris shaders on my system).
Hmm, now i have painted it, it looks not enough menacing for an Ogre. Unfortunately, as Sculptris does not allow any re-sculpt for a painted sculpture i decided to use Blender 2.49b (every version of the alpha of Blender 2.5 i tried from graphicall.org create horrible spikes on the imported OBJ for some reason in the blender sculpt mode, only 2.49 is rock solid in that regards and it performs way smoother for me anyways than any 2.5)
Blender 2.49b not having any dynamic tesselation/adding faces on demand, it can edit/sculpt textured meshes without problem (maybe in future sculptris it could be worked in, with a detail = 0 forced to disable to dynamic tesselation so painted sculpt could be reworked without needing Blender).
Original painted Ogre imported into 2.49 with the paintmap from Sculptris UV mapped to it and rendered :
After a little rework from the Blender sculpt mode
And idiot myself, i forgot to save my modified model (wanted to re-import it into sculptris to see if the importing of that modified uv mapped mesh would work)
Hey sanc, that's getting nice, but you could really take your time with it on the WIP thread and then drop it in here once you're happy with it.
Hey zinc, use the Global Reduction Feature next to the reduce brush. You may have to repeat it many times to homogenize your geometry there, but I'm sure you'll be happy to drop a few hundred thousand triangles, hehe. Don't forget to make use of the WIP subforum and take your time before you drop your result here. Nice stuff, though!
