Well then...do it! Make a sphere from a plane, but then don't complain about the stupidity of the labor, HAHAHA! Honestly guys, anyone ready to do something besides talking? Feels like we're the folks-front-of-judea... or was it the judean-folks-front? < SPLITTER > Just some illustration of my stupidity ( thanks Taron, guess that´s quite the sound an admin should have) HAHA HA - Over - out Attachments:

FANTASTIQUE, WIKKID! LOVE the tree! ...and the water...and the house/mill. If the stones of the bridge would read a bit more clearly, it would've been yet another notch cooler, but it's great as it is! YAHAA...hmm... maybe I should do a real one, too... grrrr. ;D magweb:

Someone mentionned Han Solo encased in carbonite. Well, that's beyond my poor skill, so here is NOT Han Solo hand encased in carbonite that was beyond my poor skill too ;D

VERY NICE! Love the hand... it'll be a drama, once people start to detail their models, hehehe... like...when I get started!

I think sanc has the right idea, we should all make hands/arms from planes

magweb, sorry if I offended you, I was not referring to you as stupid, but about the wasted labor on trying to turn a plane into a sphere. I'm sorry if it got too close to you.
I was hoping that enough people would get a kick out of using the plane to do something that a plane is good for. I was hoping and still am hoping that something artistic is coming out of this as luckily the first pieces already are showing.
I think your curious sphere is most probably an artistic statement, too, and you have made clear that some people require direct and clear instructions in detail as to what to do and what not to do. I will take it to heart, should anyone ever want another challenge idea from me, that is.
In that spirit, again, I'm truely sorry to have triggered such hostility and promiss that it wasn't my intention. If I write "HAHAHA" it's because I'm really laughing in happiness, not bitterness or evil spirit. I can see how that could've gone wrong up there, though...
Peace and, hey, it's all exercise here, nothing else.

Wanted to have this breaking out of the pavement, had to settle for sand! Sculptris is so s l o w I cant work on it anymore Maybe I can go back to the model and remove a few thousand polys? Removed the pic creating a wipedit: just noticed I forgot to do something I should have to this whoops

Actually I found the idea of making a sphere out of a plane quite funny, and a good art concept, after toying with the program i too believe its doable I just saw your try, you could do better tho, its more of ellipse shaped sphere now. I felt Taron was just teasing you, but get how it could be misinterpreted. Anyways I'm liking how this forums is taking shape! This is my first try for the contest i would like to do one more tomorrow, right now I'm manly testing work flow and getting a feel for all the tools, dam powerful app HELL YEAH! Attachments:

wasa: AHAHA, WOW! Thanx for explaining the arm, it looks very, VERY fabricy! Cool!
maxtormer: That looks like a very cool design, actually. Almost like an organic quake like looking symbol and stylish at that! Frankly I think it's the first time I see that material in a perfect context! ...and, yeah, it's kinda strange sometimes on faceless forums, when you tease and things go south. Ah well, thanks for the backup!
Ed: HA, that's fun, it kinda feels like it tells a whole story of how the people in egypt had their first attempt to a sphinx and figured..."eh...nah, let's try a lion or somethin'". Looks like a lot of fine creases, which you should be able to get reduced quite well. Hit it until it comes down to a fraction of the number of polys it appears to have right now. It sometimes takes a while of repeatedly hitting reduce before it does the bigger leaps. Watch the wires as it happens!

I had had downloaded Sculptris over an hour ago and thought I would wait until I was done with what I had in hand before I installed it... thinking I had to restart the computer. To my pleasant surprise this was not the case... and the software was unbelievably easy to use and adapt to. Having read through the forums, I thought I would run my test drive with your challenges... And yes; thought I’d give a go at making a sphere... As imperfect as it is Just a little note to compliment the amazing software; I have had no prior experience in using it, I have not used any special brushes or methods ( Just the default brushes) and I have worked with a rather standard office mouse... it was completed in less than 20 minutes... in fact a bit more than a quarter. This thing is AMAZING! And I am sure to work further with it! Black ( Damn... the Attachment didn't go through... you can see it in the below post)
