I notice when i import a triangulated head model and as soon as i start to sculpt on it, the geometry smooths out. Details and the overall shape is changed. Is there a way to turn this off or affect only the area that is being sculpted? Do you have any tips on how to preserve the original mesh?
Try to tesselate the model heavily before importing it. Sculptris will do this automatically up a point (minimum of 2000 triangles or something), but I should probably have put that limit much higher or added other constraints to ensure better topology for sculpting. If each shape has enough triangles in it, Sculptris can't deform it noticably. It might help to some degree if you disable "corner_tesselate" in config.txt (set it to 0 instead of 1 before starting the application). This will prevent hard corners/edges from being automatically tesselated. They might still move a bit though.
