It is inevitable that new features will be requested and that you, yourself want to roll some more features into this wonderful, simple, "zen" sculpting application. And, there are a few things more I'd like to see, as well.
But, if it is humanly possible, keep the interface Spartan and clean, just as it is today. Maybe you know how important this is to some of us who suffer, continuously, from that form of over-stimulation caused by UGUI, a newly diagnosed form of interface paranoia and anxiety. Perhaps you suffer from this, yourself.
I've noticed that you are a fan of "primitive" kinds of game stimuli with simple graphical characters and environments. I do understand this fascination, and I hope you carry this fascination on in the form of the Sculptris GUI.
My specific recommendation is that new functions simply take the form of using a different mouse "key press" coupled with, either an existing icon, or a few new, "general" icons.
One example of this kind of interface control might be the "Clear All Masks" function. You need not introduce anything new to the interface, just allow for a middle mouse click on the existing "Mask" icon, and, voila - no more masks.
If you can, please resist the overwhelming use of "right mouse button drop down textual menus". Before you know it, these will sprout up like viruses and infest the whole program.
My main focus is on developing ...might not release a bunch of "fixed" ... ... making sure ...OBJ export is more reliable.
most desperately, if OBJ export were just at least useable for me, I could wait for all the rest! don't know about other folks... but I really want to get these models into another modeling proggie to render. In addition to obj (obj is key!) If you want to work on an exporter w/ developers of (free)Kerkythea, let me know...
The problem with bug fixing an old version is that it's kind of boring compared to adding new stuff, so I don't want to risk losing steam by jumping into that kind of work early on.
Completely understandable! Keep if fun for yourself, as long as there's a future w/ Sculptris, I will keep an eye on it. I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but be sure to get all the accounts for the name you can before the scum-bags screw them all up for you - if it's not too late already... guessing it may be. (domain name, gmail accnt, youtube, twitter, facebook, etc... you know.)
Well, I snatched the .com already. That's most critical. I don't see why I would need a bunch of accounts for other sites, at least not with this specific name.
Fixing OBJ export would be a side-effect of fixing the symmetry switch, which is something I want to try within 1-2 weeks. I will try to restrain myself from destroying user interface and other aspects before I have sorted that out.
you may not think you want them now... and maybe you won't ... but better for you to have them /have control (they are free for the moment) then to want them later and discover the bad guys got there first. (happened to me w/ a 2 diff. software!)
first off.. i am amazed of this program SCULPTIS..truly remarkable..i have been a 3d modeller and game designer for 5 years now and i have never came across a program like this..it blows my mind on how easy and fast it is to create cool looking concept 3d art lol engenius
