Right. It's not done yet, but I'm hoping for tomorrow. The first beta version will be broken and limited though, so I want to test it out with a small number of people at first. You won't be able to work comfortably in it and it will probably ruin your day given half a chance.
Think about this, and then send me a private message or email if you're still interested, and I'll let you know how to proceed, if I choose to.
Don't be upset if you're not included in the first round of testing. I will let more people in once I've sorted out the worst problems. Maybe there will be a more public version to try a week from now.
We're doing ok. There were some issues of course. A lot of them I already knew about, some were new. I've been taking it easy for a few hours, but I will try to add a few things tonight so people can test it a bit further. Then I will see how much of the "other stuff" I can get in before the weekend. May or may not invite more people at that point, as I will be going away for around a week after that and further progress will be slow or non-existant until I get back.
It's still not really good enough to do serious work, but if I manage to select the right features to add/improve and then get them done in time, it could be nice.
I've finally fixed up external PSD projection painting like what could be seen in a recent demo video on youtube, so it's in the beta now. It also supports exporting of OBJ files with UV coordinates, and you can save the texture image out so it should be possible to use the textured models in other applications, to some extent.
We could probably use a few more testers in the next week since I'll be mostly absent anyway (taking a week off), and you could experiment and discuss things amongst yourselves. Just PM or email me if you're interested and I'll probably let you in (perhaps with a few days of lag if I'm away from computers).
News is that I've done very little while being away (and sick) for the last few weeks, but I'm back on development now. Most of what I'm doing at this point is under the hood, so it doesn't make for interesting screenshots. I'm trying to get everything fast and robust enough to be useful.
There will probably be some new features next week. I'll try to remember posting a few screenshots on the development thread.
Looking forward very much to the update, projection painting is going to really make this fun to use... Most excellent application, thank you . I posted a link at CG Talk Cinema4D forum as this works very well with the program for my needs... William
