I am new to Sculptris and making my first model of a mermaid. Unfortunately the hands got mangled in the sculpting proccess so now I have a fairly nice looking mermaid I spent days on with really MESSED UP deformed looking nubs where hands should be.
When I try smoothing it leaves me with strands of clay hanging out awkwardly. I try grabbing and inflating or flattening and if basically turns into a fat mess of what looks like vertex vomit. Anyone have any suggestions to smooth out or amputate??

Your best bet is to export the model to a .OBJ and then import it to Blender. There you can either repair the hands, or simply cut them off and close off the nubs. then import the model back to Sculptris and try again.
