I sure hope he doesn't have to live in CA! Curious for a visit, but quite slimming to the life-expectancy.

To everyone afraid Pixologic will stop the development of Sculptris: ain't gonna happen.
Right now the biggest threat to them is 3D Coat (in many ways similar to Sculptris) and they need something to compete with it. Why throw away perfectly good app that does exactly that?

Congratulations to DrP. I'll probably stick around this forum as long as it continues, much more enjoyable place than ZBC. Personally, I think if any major developer was to take a controlling interest in Sculptris, I would rather it was Pixologic than any of the others.

To everyone afraid Pixologic will stop the development of Sculptris: ain't gonna happen. Pixologic buying Sculptris to stop its further development was the only way they could do to prevent it to become a commercial threat for them, because honestly in term of user friendliness and intuitivity Sculptris was leagues beyond the reach of Zbrush. So I can't see why Pixologic would finance further development of Sculptris now. Sculptris was becoming a serious alternative to Zbrush before, and Sculptris with more features and functionalities , even if DrPetter would have gone non-freeware with it one day, would nearly nullify the need of the more expensive Zbrush. Sculptris will most likely stay "alpha5" forever or maybe move to "alpha6" fixing a bug or two, and will certainly be deemed as "introduction to sculpting" application to attract potential Zbrush customers. Fortunately for the Sculptris fans, Sculptris even now is a great sculpting application, and for free it can only be great to introduce people that had not necessarly an artistic background into digital sculpting because of how natural sculpting is with DrPetter's baby. DrPetter was able to improve it into a very good and workable application with 1.02 before losing his ownership on Sculptris when Pixologic took over . For me Sculptris is now a perfect companion for Blender in my workflow, can't thank DrPetter enough for it. EDIT : ps - one thing that come to my mind - could u drP open the code of last free release of SC or they bought the rights to the code also? I looked at the license agreement Pixologic added to the Sculptris archive, and it now has this : Certainly the death of the dream of a source being released unfortunately.

Congratulations! I really hope sculptris' development will continue and it's strong points (focused, fun, user friendly) will be preserved.

pxl666: They're mockups, we had a couple of them done during beta by different people. Ultimately a few small parts got in I think, but features were more important then a UI redesign at the time.
