Haha thanks panfeanor, but I'd say I'm just persistent
That sculpt turned out to be just over 1.6m triangles, which is very close to the upper limit of what my machine can handle before getting unstable.
Hey serek, I'm no pro yet, but I'm working on it like a maniac, as you can see I'm finding its getting easier to quickly get my general idea out, and then its just detailing. Give it a shot if you can, you'd be shocked at how quickly your quality and speed improve.
Anyhow, here's today's creature:
I liked Taron's hellhound so much I needed to try making one of my own
Thanks knacki, I'm sort of thinking of this as a chronicle of my fumblings toward lesser suckyness
Today I tried something a bit more ambitious... at least to me, that is. I don't know what it is about females, but they're hard for me to really get looking the way I want. I guess I'll have to try making a few to really get some practice in. Anyhow, here she be:
Not totally digging the face, and the transition from human to deer anatomy is still bugging me
HAHA! AWESOME, vis, that's such fun stuff! You, too, should start bringing your creatures into some poses. I would love to see that elfeer bending around on alert, checking out what might come from somewhere behind her!
Hey Mermaid, thanks! Those two were some of the most fun to create (and the most challenging so far )
Taron, I'll definitely try posing up some of these guys. I'll probably have to either rig them up separately, or figure out how to keep my triangle counts down so that Sculptris doesn't die on me when I disable symmetry mode.
Today's sculpt wasn't too hard aside from the wings... Those took FOREVER to get right, and I ended up doing them in a separate app and merging them on. I think I'll avoid bat winged creatures for now, unless I can find some easier way to deal with thin surfaces.
I'm so tempted to make a Ringwraith so that this guy has someone to ride him
