Mirrors are ok for expressions, but not really suitable for modeling It's really difficult to see the profile which a camera can do with ease

I've recorded a little video of myself, swinging the camera around me. It's really a fantastic method as you can get a sense of perspective as well and can just scrub back and forth to any place you care about.

Aha, good thread I hope that has some similarity ;D ... Mind we give it a go with your photo? ... Here's my try... that's me, if I was perfectly symmetric, HAHA! ...maybe I'll make a goofier one with some more original character. ;D ... [/IMG]
Looks FANTASTIC... as more what expected. The close up detail was the cherry on top! Great works everyone. Black

Damn forgot to state that I agree with Wasa on that I agree with the whole mirror thing. Very often we even have mirrors stuck next to the screen for looking at while animating (expressions and so forth) but for sculpting photo references or as stated maybe a video cap would work best in my personal preference.

While working on the head for the latest sculpt I was working on I realized it had some similarities to my own face. So I decided to turn it into my own head on that body... ;D Unfortunately, even in the Marines, I was never in that great of shape as the sculpt body is trying to portray. No eyebrows yet, but since I haven't done a sculpt of me yet for this thread: Here I am. Attachments:

Wow, he really does have some big ears! .... beautiful model, clandestine! Has that really been you at 4 years or is it your son? No matter what, really well done. Kudos! Sporkfumaster, wow, yours was hiding there, haha. Good stuff, too! You shouldn't hold back and work in some more details. I think it'll be a fantastic portrait!
