About 15-20 minutes of modelling before it crashed ! -CRASH REPORT . -----GRAB TOOL -----REDUCE POLY -----GRAB TOOL ---------------------CRASH I have been using hypercam to capture the build proccess ,if you want I will post the results "maybe show you where its crashing "
Started to Lag once the poly count went above 200,000 .
I'm sorry about the crash. I hope you could recover the file, but it does have some bugs that will cause problem areas in certain cases. The reduce tool is definitely a common offender, so try to avoid using it if possible. You could perhaps export the mesh and load it into Blender to do global detail reduction if you want to manage the polycount to speed up further sculpting, then import it back into Sculptris. I will work to improve these things of course.
I'm having the same problems with lag over 200,000 triangles, as well.
Also, I'm sure you're aware, the reduce detail button almost always causes a crash.
I had a basic spere, increased the detail a bit to crease a solid line in it, then smoothed and flattened the line out so it was as close to spherical as I could get it, but the triangle count was still higher than it was as a sphere, so I tried reducing the triangles...
I ended up with a bunch of little holes, and then, trying to flatten/smooth them over, it crashed.
Tunnels are not possible to make through regular sculpting, but the application supports them in the sense that it's fine to work with such meshes once you have them. One trick to getting them is to disable symmetry, then make a 'U' shape that extends twice across the symmetry line. When you switch on symmetry again, it'll blend into a holed shape.
First attempt at sculpting (I generally only do hard-body modeling in Lightwave), so it's really rough.
The only time I had major problems was when I was working (drawing, mainly) on the y axis - I often get crazy polys on the mirror edge. Sometimes I can use Flatten to get rid of them, but often it just goes nuts and crashes. Unfortunately, re-launching just re-loads the offending recovery object and down she goes again.
Okay my third go, this program is too fun. Only crashed once, but not when modeling, when I tried to import a LW-OBJ as a low res template, crashola! But other than that this puppy seems very stable so far. I've been pushing Sculptris hard, the past hour or so, to see where it's downing on me - so far, 190866 tris, but it only gets slow when I'm zoomed in pretty close.
I'm addicted ;D.
EDIT: No this is the ugliest thing I've modeled to date, lol.
Also, after my OBJ import & Crash - when I ran Sculptris again it brought me right back to where I was in the modeling process or atleast my last save, argh now I can't remember... anyway.
