Hello everyone! Ive made a sculpting primer for 3dcoat when voxelsculpting was still new (and when i still believed it was going somewhere). I really enjoyed creating it and got a lot of positive feedback from people at that time. Here is the video to give an idea: vimeo.com/5134607With that said ive been wondering about doing the same for sculptris (which i love beyond belief). However you all know sculptris is very easy to pick up and use. ^_^ So im wondering if there is any demand for a sculptris primer to make a running start? Please help me make my mind up by saying wether you would like a sculptris primer video or that i should not bother. 3dioot PS Its almost sad to see this and know how much easier and faster it is to do the same in sculptris atm.

There are probably going to be lots of people that will try sculptris that are either new to sculpting, or 3d in general The more learning material for new users the better, even if it is simple

That is a great idea. I am surprised that there isn't one out there yet - although we have those fantastic videos and I can watch them for hours. I think wasa is right - "The more learning material for new users the better". I am looking forward to seeing what you put together.

i think that'd be a great idea.
taron's already got a bunch of sculpt vidz from scratch. i've got one timelapse from scratch, one thing that is missing is something that's gonna get the lazies up and running. i think most ppl don't go through the 'documentation.txt'. having a vid in a sticky thread would be awesome.
something that covers hotkeys, masking, tools (and settings for each) would be great. i think most ppl still don't know u can change tool size/strength by SPACE+LMB up/dn L/R. stuff like that. the 'q' toggle and when to use it.
i've got some time on my hands curently, i'll try making a more comprehensive help file as well.
... BTW that was a great 3DC vid!!! my favorite!

wasaGood point. I actually got a graphic designer at work to try it out. He is a cool guy but not really teach savy if you know what i mean. Always up for trying new things though and he loved sculptris. tdachelI think we dont have one yet because the questions on how to do things or how to start are relatively low for such a new app. At first glance its pretty simple to just pick it up. There are some nice tricks though and the more powerfull features of the paint side could definitely use some explanation. For a primer i may keep it relatively simple though. quirkusmandibleIts true quite a few peeps dont seem to go through the documentation.txt They must be spoiled by pdf's, online wiki's and tutorial movies. hehe ^_^ A real helpfile would be nice for the people that need it. If i may make a suggestion i'd love to see something like this: lh6.ggpht.com/manofskill/SIftBkkYHwI/AAAAAAAAEzo/ItCX5bi5vjA/s800/Quick%20Reference.JPGFor sculptris. I was thinking about making one myself but if you are willing to do that that would be great too. Im very happy to hear you liked my video so much. I was quite amazed by how much people appreciated it at the time. thwak --- Thankyou all for the positive feedback. Ive made up my mind. Since its weekend you can expect something soon. 3dioot

Hi everyone, Must say my weekend isnt really going as planned. First i create a cheat sheet which i then cant print because my printer has an empty cartridge (oh the irony) and now camtasia decides to corrupt around 45 minutes of captured video. Sometimes the universe just isnt on your side. ;D Since id probably sound pretty pissed if i would record it anew straight away i have postponed it for now. Its still coming (and i promise it will be nice!) just not this weekend. Sorry guys! 3dioot

Make installments, not a 45 min giant piece. It's not too joyous to watch in most cases and really tricky to record as well...hmm...unless you're me... and eh.... have no shame! ;D But anyway, nowadays I'd also rather make some decent chunks and label them properly for the viewing order than endanger recording and viewer's attention with a big one like that. You never know right away when the universe acted as a helping hand! ;D

I'm waiting with baited bweath... I've been reading the documentation and those posted here as well as watching the vids, but why pour the salt in the shaker through the holes? User (on/off) of Zbrush, Hexagon, tried blender... I'm more an illustrator than a tech guy... have done demos and cutaways with Rhino/Hexagon/Carrara. Sculptris is a breath of fresh air. I'm particularly paranoid of uv mapping. Need all the help I can get, I'd just like to get up and running - it's a pragmatic thing, not a lazy thing. Post when done and how to get them. Great idea! Thanks

taronI said 45 minutes got corrupted. Not that i would upload it as one vid. And who says my 45 minutes video wouldnt be enjoyable to watch? I personally like to add a bit of sculpting to my videos. Dry theory is never fun; if my vid gets a bit longer because i sculpt something at the end showing the tools im fine with that. ^_^ Ill give it some thought though.. "You never know right away when the universe acted as a helping hand!"To live by that theory is a very good way to keep a positive outlook on life. Always explain everything as being beneficial to you or your surroundings keeps you a happy person and your energy high. After all what can we do with what is given except make the most out of it. Failure only exists when you quit, if you do not quit there are only bumps on the road to success. nateowens"I'd just like to get up and running"Thats exactly what im aiming for. Give me a little more time and i think you'll be happy. 3dioot
