Uh, ah...well...ehm...let me wipe off the blushing and then justify my quiet observing at CGHub. Well, frankly I was overwhelmed at the time and didn't quite know how to deal with it properly, especially since I was working on a project at that time, which was rather intense. However, it's not about excuses, as the 2d turnout of that challenge was dramatically amazing. 3d was a sad, sad picture. Only one guy was just about to make a crazy beautiful piece and abandoned it. The rest was nice and good start-up efforts, but it just wasn't something I could wholeheartedly congratulate anyone for. I didn't just judge the Challenge, but it was literally my challenge as I was asked to come up with it and see it through. Yet, I wasn't a moderator at that time... strange position, really. Now I'm an editor over there, which gives me some more freedom, while I'm a bit removed from the scene for a while now and have so little good to say about it. I want to offer direction and need to feel my way into "where from" before I can point more successfully.
However, my life is much different now and we're about to launch another set of "challenges" over there. I'm thinking about encouraging people to use Sculptris for it or at least to do their 3d sketching with. It'll be creature challenges, so that'll be plenty of easy fun!
Well, well, well... you all make me feel like I'm part of my own reincarnation ritual, hahaha! But it's not too far off, really. I feel like I'm just coming back to life in a much more exciting way. Thanks, guys!
im in. A creature challenge is something I could possible find time to do. I remember starting up on a few of the other challenges, but since they generally have quite big themes, space opera and other I don't remember right now, I have never really managed to finish a challenge. This might be the first.
Let us know when the challenge kicks off (I'm not regually visiting the cghub network) just to make sure we (sculptris'ers(?)) get in on the challenge.
Edit. seems I submitted the post a bit early, lol.
