Just stumbled across Sculptris and am very impressed.
It runs fine on my aging desktop PC but won't run on my slightly older laptop (2002 vintage Toshiba Satellite 1900-603 with ATI Mobility M6 graphics running Windows XP) . When I run it I get the error message: "Failed to init extensions. New graphics driver might help". I tried looking but can't find an updated driver.
I would just assume my laptop just can't cope with it and leave it at that (damn shame though as it's my main PC) except for the fact that 3DS Max runs very well on it. Is it possible to get Sculptris working using my hardware?
Had the same message on my old HP laptop, possibly it's because the graphics card cant handle the type of output Sculptris puts out? Something to do with pixel shaders and all that graphical stuff etc.
I had this error message on the first release of alpha 3 (somewhere in february) . Few days later DrPetter released a new alpha 3 that worked perfectly for me (without shaders).
If you downloaded Sculptris on another website, it may not be the really latest alpha 3 but the previous one (maybe DrPetter should have called it something else like alpha 3.1 or something like this to avoid confusion).
Thanks sanc but I only discovered Sculptris the day before yesterday and downloaded it from DrPeter's Sculptris homepage so I'm sure I have the latest version (well, the latest version of Alpha 3 anyway).
Hmm, I've run sculptris on my netbook, only thing that doesn't work there is the materials even handles at decent speed considering t only has 1gb of ram and an underclocked intel 945 graphics chip (winxp for the OS)
tarabaz Nope, never had a tablet connected to this laptop as far as I recall. I presume it always tries to load the file to see if you've got a tablet connected so I'd imagine it had nothing to do with my problem. edwardart Jealous...
