C005: theinternetisdown01.smu

Yay, made a start with C005 today.

It's perhaps the sequence where she finds that her internet is down. And then goes out to find all the internets are down. So she cant reach her lover.

It's loosely based on this: georges moustaki le facteur
As I understand it that song is about a mail man that died.

sounds a little like a philip glass type of score (Koyaanisqatsi or how ever the heck that was spelled, hahaha). It also has a bit more a touch of a drama or something really depressing rather than romance, but I could imagine it still fits the genre.

Nice! :D

Yeah, I posted it as soon as I stopped working on it. Now I hear al kind of tiny things wrong with it, heh. And it doesnt fit the romance theme to good. So I will just start something new.

Nice. Something musical about train stations and trains...hehe.
That reminds me... I made some scenery/animation with a station. Perhaps I can recapture it and we could use it in a challenge later on. Or something like that. :)

I'm sure I'll make some more complete filmscores, but I just don't have the time right now, yet, started this for "romance"... C005 (1st): romance001.smu

It's just a loop right now, but quite processor demanding and somehow enough of an idea, I think. I'd also like to revive the thread again early, if only to groom it a little, hehe. It's precious, isn't it?! ;)

Ooh :D sounds very disney lol. I can hear some narrator talking the typical talk, hehe.

Maybe you want to post it as a wav too? I need to mute one instrument just to make it play smoothly hehe.

And yes this thread is fun. The 2 minute mark on the C005 is a bit dreadful tho.

Anyway almost time to come up with some more challenges. The tiny ones are most fun I think.

me, too... but as soon as my mad work-rush is over I'll have a much easier time doing a few larger pieces, too. PLUS I should start reading the challenges, hahahaha... I didn't even see a (2min) time limit...pfff.

We could add some educational challenges, too! I'm really not at all well founded with classical structures or rather any standart compositional patterns. Maybe we should just dig up some standart formulas and make those challenges as well: intro->bridge->strophe->bridge->refrain->strophe...what ever would be proper. I seriously don't have a clue or rather never cared enough. But this could be an even better exercise for all of us!

Okay more technical stuff then, haha.

I am the wrong person to ask about formula structures. Even terms as ragtime never sunk in with me till recently. Being ignorant of a lot of music theory comes with it own charme and adventure it seems, but perhaps that is a lie.
Some say you need to learn it first to then forget it all.
But it would be indeed educational.

So yeah I'll try to post some new challenges before the end of the week.

Keep posting yours!

I'm pretty sure I can't find time for this... :'(
But just out of curiosity; the dates mentioned, are they in mm/dd/yyyy format? Or is it an infinite challenge and are those dates just when you personally completed something? In the latter case I might find some time.

There's time... don't worry about the dates right now at all. I think, once we all find our groove, we can look at some time constraint challenges, but as it is, it's just wonderful, if anyone joins in and picks up any of the challenges!

Hey s! I removed the deadline dates. Lets say you should not spend more then a week on one challenge, unless you enjoy it. :P Time starts when you start.

Added: TIER ONE: "C101 - one string song" and "C102 - Lullaby" to the OP.

Nice action movie tune there taron. Hehe, kinda 80s agian. :P
See if you can describe you structure ideas more concretely? I'll see if i can make up more challenges soon too.

weekend ^_^
